WIWAW (while I was at work.) The Stanley Cup Champions visited the White House. Tim Thomas decided not to go. Well, I guess he must have moved to China or North Korea because, apparently this is a huge disgrace.
Roll your eyes with me.
Tim Thomas is an American citizen and he has the right to skip a trip to the White house if he so chooses but I guess that isn’t good enough for the sports world because they are raking him over the coals like he stole candy from a baby.
Timmy thinks the government is too involved in our lives. Someone on twitter compared him to the uni-bomber. Really I say.
The Government thinks high fructose sugar is bad for us and wants to ban it from being used in products. If you like Oreo’s say goodbye because the government says you can’t eat them anymore.
Want to sing a song and put it on youtube? sorry the Government is against you doing that too. Sopa and pipa anyone?
Are you gay and want to get married? sorry but the government thinks you don’t have the right to marry who you like.
I rest my case.
“I believe the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People.
This is being done at the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial level. This is in direct opposition to the Constitution and the Founding Fathers vision for the Federal government.
Because I believe this, today I exercised my right as a Free Citizen, and did not visit the White House. This was not about politics or party, as in my opinion both parties are responsible for the situation we are in as a country. This was about a choice I had to make as an INDIVIDUAL.
This is the only public statement I will be making on this topic. TT”

Big deal in Philly because we’re a hockey town and we yap about sports all day long. I’m still contemplating whether to post upon it. Anyone who disagrees with TT’s right to do what he did doesn’t get it…and you can’t “help” them. That being said, he’s such a high-profile guy his decision does – like it or not – have a ripple effect on the organization, city and the sport. I think that is the much more interesting story here…if any of this really is a “story” at all.
We as bloggers have free speech to say what we like I will never understand why Timmy is not afforded the same basic rights.
A lot of our radio guys are ex sports people and they seem to think they have the right to say what they like but refuse to afford Thomas the same.
There are way to many hypocrites in this town and I for one am losing interest in every sports team we have because of the way they run things.
That is what happened to the Celtics with me. They had no loyalty and no integrity and the Bruins are now doing the same thing to Thomas.
The internet is ruining sports for me.
